Sticky boom swing - 580 SK.

Take a close look at the cam follower roller, located under the upper swing tower pin. Is it siezed? Does it have any flat spots? Does it follow the cam properly all the way through the cycle?

    580M Bell Housing Hole

The small plug from a 44 gallon oil drum screws straight in there. No harm in leaving it open on a hoe. Have had problems with crawler dozer/loaders that use the Cummins 4b/6b. When they sink into a deep, wet bog hole, the mud would enter that hole, go up behind the flywheel & enter the...

Case 580K front bucket operating levers

There is a linkage on the RHS of loader frame for bucket levelling. The linkage goes to a pivot on the side & through the hydraulic tank - make sure the pivot is moving freely & not seized.

2017 Case SR210 dumped all hydraulic fluid, how do I raise the cab?

Unfortunately, you do need to raise the loader frame to tilt the cabin. I'm not sure it's a good idea to raise a snow plow up that high, but I live in Australia & that isn't something I've ever had to deal with. In this situation I disconnect the loader lift hoses, at the cylinders, but on...

Case 580 super k: overheating power shuttle fluid

Those are thrust washers for the hemesphere gears in the diff centre. They have had an update to a different shape to avoid them cracking at the locating crimped area. (see below) That spring is a mystery - out of the control valve for sure. You should not be operating the loader in 3rd or 4th -...

    Case 580K Brakes Sticking

There are return springs inside the brake cylinders. Are the boots still on the cylinders? - these keep moisture out of the cylinders. The brake cylinders could be rusty. Are you using mineral/hydraulic oil in the master cylinders? (not brake fluid) Brake cylinders could just be gummed up & need...

    Case 850b 4bt conversion

Distance from fan to radiator will also need to be considered. The 850D used the 6-590 engine. In saying that, the 850B chassis will be different to the D.

Case 1840 with Cummins 4-390 - Lots of coolant in oil, but zero oil in coolant

There are a couple of welsh/expansion/casting/freeze plugs located behind the engine side cover. It's well worth checking those before you get too carried away pulling the head etc. They are supposed to be stainless, but that doesn't mean that they are.... item #8

No start issue with my 580K case backhoe.

Welcome to HEF @Rick James On a 580K, the starter relay is located under the hood release flap. Looking down into the area under the flap, there are two relays on LHS, below the hyd filler cap, if I recall correctly. One is for starter & other is for return to dig. You can swap them to check...

Case 450 hard starting and smokes

I only have a schematic for the same setup on the earlier 4B engine which uses the same injector pump. The 450 series 3 parts book shows the same set up with the cold start advance solenoid. Shows one power wire which splits - one to the fuel shut off solenoid & the other to the coolant...

Case 450 hard starting and smokes

The "other wire" on the pump is for advancing the pump timing when cold. It should be also connected to an engine coolant sensor located in the cylinder head, near the injector pump.

Case 580 Super L Starting Issues

Maybe When you pressurise the hyd tank, look to see if there is any oil leak occurring in that suction pipe. Sometimes they have been moving in the retaining brackets & worn through the steel? If there is no problem with that suction line, the fault can only be inside the pump.

    97’ Case 1840 drive chains

Welcome to HEF @sherwood22 I normally check chain tension by raising the machine off the ground & rocking the axles back & forth (with park brake released, if they are still connected) TIP - I also recycle the old hydraulic oil into the chain cases & put the new oil in the tank.

    case 855D

When you engage a gear, is there a clunk in the drivetrain? Does the driveshaft stop suddenly? Any track movement whatsoever? Does this machine have anything mounted to the rear PTO? Winch maybe?

    580sm

Welcome to HEF @ivi The parts book does not show shims in that area. If the clearance between the boom ears & dipper seems excessive you could install some. Curious though, where did your old boom break? Did it happen in one go, or was there a crack that got worse? Any pictures?
