    Big dozers

What I was trying to get at, is that there was no demand for them. It was never an issue of parts availability, or dealer parts stock. I actually sat in on one of the presentations that was made to pitch the dozers to us. There was no mention of anyone having to stock a certain amount of...

    Big dozers

The reason there were never any 575s in the oilseeds was more to do with the ground conditions. The material is notoriously soft, and D11/475 size machines struggle to move around in it some times. The 575 was felt to be just too heavy for the application, so they never brought any in.

    Oxy-propane rosebud torch

For propane, you need to go to type T hose. The standard type R will work....for a while.

How not to haul an Excavator…..

Yes sir, the frame, cab, ROPS, and a bunch of other sheet metal were from donor machines. All the powertrain was brand new though.

How not to haul an Excavator…..

Funny you would mention that. I worked for the company that bought that D10N, dirt cheap and rebuilt it. It was an awesome machine, and for about 10% of the cost of a new machine. We used parts from some other D10s we had and ended up with what was essentially a brand new machine.

BC logging equipment left to rust

What I wouldn't give to go iron hunting with you one day. I live just west of Kamloops, so I'm really not far away, and like you, I don't want to see these gems pillaged or scrapped.

    Major shovel Fail.

I work in a mine in Northern Alberta, but my main house (the place I call home, and go to on my days off) is a little more than 20km directly north of Highland Valley. I'll try to add to some of the comments and info shared so far. Until a thorough inspection can be done when the shovel is...

    Pit Problems

Just a couple of quick notes to help add to the info given. There are actually 5 pits at Highland Valley. 3 of which are currently active. The Valley pit was the only put affected by the slide, and the other 2 remained in operation. The Valley pit is the main pit though, so it was a...

What do you consider a worthless piece of equipment?

HR says I'm not allowed to call people useless anymore. So I think I'll just keep quiet on this one.

I don’t know why, as the rough ride is the only thing I can really pick at on those trucks. They’re absolute beasts.

BELAZ 450 ton dump truck specifications released along with a model of the truck!!!

It's not even a case of concentrating on what is selling. They have very few orders, and are cannibalizing trucks they have sitting around so they can get the parts to build them. There are embargoes in place against the country and government, and they are suffering for it.

BELAZ 450 ton dump truck specifications released along with a model of the truck!!!

I read an article in Engineering and Mining Journal that Belaz is not doing too well. The trade embargoes have caused them to have to cannibalize two of the 450 tonnes for parts to build smaller trucks.
