Having old stuff like that and the new fancy Soilmec really keeps your brain sharp. One is about as complicated as an anvil and the other has more computer crap than Apollo 11!
Man oh man that would be sick. I'd modify whatever it took to make that work in a truck!
I don't know about selling a front seat but would like to chase it down some West Virginia roads with it pulling a load of logs. Not sure if my Sportster with the sidecar could keep up but it would be fun to try! Just imagining listening to the sound with a real truck driver walking it up and down the gears.
It's fun to ride with or watch a smooth driver. Set of sticks or otherwise. You don't see the antennas or cab flopping around. I rode with a guy years ago when I was a swamper. Smooth as silk. From that day forward I drove like him. I wanted to be so smooth you almost couldn't tell when I changed gears. Other than when I get in a hurry I'm like that. I've had plenty of practice! Easy on, easy off progressive shifts.
Watching the "gear jammers" who call themselves drivers kill me. Damn cabs look like they're about to be flipped off the frame.
I'd love to tame a 16V anything! V12 Cat or whatever. I've driven some mean trucks. One guy I knew had a SALTY KTA in an old W900A. Stupid HP and I have no doubt driven poorly it would spit the driveline into the next county.
.....can't say I've ever seen one quite like it.....
Just using that crawler housing until the parts for it come in? At least that how it works for me.
Me too! Never know when you might stumble into 3 or 4 other donor machines to complete one. How many of us will start looking for a housing to make a bench out of?
