RCP57, Love those pictures of the 7230 snorkel. Looks like the former Teal Jones 7230 on the logging accidents thread!
My same thoughts . The 7230 was bought by Timberwest HBO Div.from Wyco could have been Albernie area ,and rebuilt it, it was sold to Teal Jone's as part of TFL #46. IPL took possesion of it when they became principle contractor of HBO for Teal Jone's . When IPL pulled out of HBO TFL #46 , they took all the equipment including the 7230 with them to Western Forest .

View attachment 121651 Can anyone tell me if this is Bill Hewlett and his kids David, Donna and Mark ???????

Standing Lorne Cameron with children Jim , Wendy and Rick. Lorne was Personal Manager at the Harris Creek Camp where this picture was taken. If you look to the back ground on the right you can see a Red bunk house that would be moved down to the new DLS and become the Fallers bunkhouse.

dirty4fun, I am glad that you made it home ok. 1051 miles is a long time in the saddle for one day. I guess you caught a little "homeitis" which can be a little risky no matter what you are driving or flying.
A friend and I rode to the show on Sunday and I met CampTramp working on cable spices. He said that you had been there helping him about an hour or two before. I have no background in the logging industry so this site is very interesting reading.

DonBC I grew up on a farm in IL. and had no idea that the equipment that is shared here with so many pictures was around. Many people here have taken time to explain and give me details. I asked so many questions that were always answered, and then one day HDX told me I should come see what it is all about. The rest has made for the best vacation I have ever had, even thou it was short. So much to see and learn, so I just will have to come back for a refresher and to see a few more things I didn't get to see this time. Don't think I have ever met so many truly nice caring people. Not sure how much help I was to camptramp, but it sure was interesting to see how he braided in a loop in a cable. Sorry we didn't meet but I will be back and next time spend more time in the area. The last 120 miles home were not much fun, as I hate riding in the dark. You will never meet a great bunch of guys that are on this forum!

Glad you made the trip and saw it first-hand. I just have one question: Did you wear the same clothes coming back, or perhaps a pair of stagged off britches, a hickory shirt and suspenders? :D

I wore the same pants to and back thou did make use of the laundry at a couple motels. Hard to know what to pack and not much room, either. The hardest part is not knowing what the weather was going to be, so had a little stuff I didn't need but that was ok, meant that the weather was great.

I was implying that you might have swapped yer street clothes for traditional loggers' attire. :D

Again, for what it's worth, I'm glad you got to see it real, and in person.

I knew where you were headed, I already have a couple sets of suspenders, for my nail apron. The reason I left was I was afraid of being turned down for a job. The people, the beauty of the area all made it tough to leave, but I need to get the jobs here done, so I can go back and enjoy the island once again.

I picture of the man who made my trip possible HDX Steve thanks so very much. What a great fellow who I feel privileged to have, meet here on this chat site. He invited me out and I gladly accepted, having no idea I would meet so many friendly people. While it was only for a few days it will happen again and for a much longer time, to see all my new friends!

Here are a few that I took up the coast a few years back. They were using the old Queen of Tsawassen as a floating bunkhouse and helicopter logging the sidehills. 2005_0703Armada1st0024.jpg2005_0703Armada1st0030.jpg2005_0703Armada1st0096.jpg

Here are a few pics that I took of the camp at the end of Toba Inlet at the mouth of the Toba river. I anchored overnight at the bottom of Toba Inlet.02.jpg03.jpg04.jpg
