Will a John Deere backhoe attachment work on a Bobcat 763 skid steer

Hi all,

Long time listener, first time caller.

I own a Bobcat 763 G series which uses the quick attach mounting plate, and I need to buy a backhoe attachment to go on it.

I have my sights on a John Deere Pro 850 backhoe that a friend has for a very good price (~$2k). It runs well and has no leaks or problems. It also has a quick attach setup.

Question is - is the backhoe quick attach compatible with my Bobcat's quick attach.

The backhoe is about 200 miles away from where I'm at and I can't get my Bobcat up there any time soon. The seller only has a JD skid steer to demo it with which is different.

I've scoured the internet for information on the JD Pro 850 backhoe, and can't find it anywhere. The JD website is devoid of any information for anything other than their newer B7, B8, etc models.

I've had people assure me that any "quick attach" will work on any other "quick attach" but others have said that's not true and that there are differences in sizing on the plate.

Anyone know anything about this or have any websites I may have overlooked?

Also, if I buy it and the sizes are off, are there any good ways of adapting different sizes to work? Is the cutting/welding easy for a mechanic?

I've also called a John Deere dealer and a Bobcat dealer. The JD guy said "he though it should work. any quick attach should work across". The Bobcat guy said he wasn't sure. So not much help there.

I think some Bobcats had a single locking pin in the center. If yours has the dual pins at the outer edges pointing down you will be fine. The only other obstacle I can think of is the hose connections not being compatible, which really isn't an issue.
I have a LiTW three point mount hoe that I use on my Mustang with an adapter plate.

Pretty easy to measure the distance between top "hook" for quick attach and bottom flange the pins go down through. Then measure the centerlines on the pins side to side. Have your buddy do the same to the backhoe attachment mount plate.

The quick attache should be the same, but most backhoes have additional attachment points as well which will probably have to be modified. On my Cat, the front cab steps are replaced wih a set that includes a second quick mounting point.

This is right on! Remember that backhoes have the 2nd mount to keep it stable to the machine. The 763 had 2 different style backhoe mounts for their hoe. the inside mount could handle the 909 attachment. The 709 had the mount on the outside by the loader arms. I would look seriously into what mount the JD hoe has to the machine to see if that part can be retrofitted if necessary. The bobtach mount will fit your machine if the JD buckets fit it ,as most bucket manufactures have crossed that barrier years ago. Look into a manufacture that sells hoes not brand specific, (Bracco) as an example to see how they mount the machine.
