In the U.K the Air Cooled Engines are rated on the top of the Hill, the parts are no problem to get for even very old long serving engines, the blower fan on most units has an Engine shutdown in case of belt troubles, the parts are very reasonable to Buy even from Deutz, to recondition the engine would be less costly than most Engines plus the air cooled units are still being built,as already stated Deutz also build Water cooled engines in Vee and inline spec', the big benefit with an Air cooled engine is it only uses 1 3rd of the fan moved air that a water cooled engine needs, plus you have no water pump, radiator hoses plus coolant, most Water cooled engines also often need Vee Belts to drive larger fans, so the blower belt thing is not an issue, the Build quality of the Air Cooled Deutz is about as good as it gets, I service and maintain Vee 10 and Vee12 units on Drill Rigs that are Hammered every Day with just normal servicing to keep things Sweet.
