L-218 Punched Through Road

Stretch very nearly drowned, but he was able to push the side window out with his back, and slither out between the cab and side guard. A very narrow escape!

More L-218

Stretch poses on his machine. He was back to work later that day, once the machine was back on its feet.

Why Low-Bedding is Dangerous in the Winter....

I know it looks like a head-on, but no. The whole works spun out on the hill, and came down backwards. The push truck ended up doing a doughnut.

Continued....

The brains have it figured out, the rock truck dumped a load of ballast, the loader walked off on it, and then the loader lifted the bed back onto the road.

trakloader: Reminds me of when I worked at Juskatla. It probably wasn't supposed to be that way, but it always seemed that MBQCD was at the top of the hills when winter came. That's when I was glad to not be a truck driver. Thanks for starting this thread. This should be interesting.

7230R, Preparing to Grease the Driveline......

Mechanics will do anything to avoid crawling under a machine....... This was actually the result of a mechanic moving the machine without locking the swing. The second mechanic was clinging to the gantry as the machine went over!

Sad day:crying We were at work when this happend nobody hurt. the Gen. set caught fire nothing we could do but watch her burn. They had the Kamov dumping a 1000 gallons every 30 sec. it just poored off the roof. It burned right to the steel deck. We lost everything all personal gear etc. What a pain getting car keys etc delieverd to Port Hardy, guys walking around the airport in caulk boots or socks you probably get the picture.
The camp was owned by Interfor set up at Quatlena, Kwatna Inlet 1999? cant remember the name of the barge. It was a couple of years old the nicest camp I've stayed in.
Thank christ it didn't happen at night.

Fire!!

My friend sent me these pics of L-316 burning down. A defective night switch caused a spark, which ignited solvent that the operator was using to wash the engine. He had just opened the valve from the main fuel tank to fill the day tank, and the hose burned off. They used up all the extinguishers, then just waited for something bigger to arrive. The machine was rebuilt and loading again in less than two weeks.
