dually

i have a 99 old body style gmc 2500 and wonted to make it into a dually just wondering if anyone has done something like this before.

What is your intent of making a 3/4 ton a dually? It's not going to give you any more capacity, maybe some stability. If you're putting flatbed on it I would say go for it, that would help out with the width of the bed, etc. But for towing you're really not going to gain a whole lot.

I see a lot of flat beds built on old pickup frames that don' take into concideration tire clearance when loaded.
It is not hard to do. The simpleest way is to add feplace the studs on the brake drums, install a spacer between the drum and wheel for spring clearance, and buy the dished wheels. If you want the front to track right you will also need the offset spacer and dished wheel, otherwise it will not look right.

Unless you can find someone to recertify the truck, you'll actually be reducing the legal cargo capacity of the truck by adding the weight of the additional wheels, tires and hardware. Around here that would be near impossible to do due to liability concerns.
