Last year I decided to put some concrete sidewalk in here at home. I didn't want set aside a whole day to do it, and I didn't want to bother any of my friends to come and help, so I decided to buy bags of cement, sand and gravel, and mix it myself. That way I could do a couple of feet at a time, when I had some spare time. Well, it only took about ten minutes for me to figure out that mixing by hand is just not practical. (Actually, I think somebody should invent a big thingy to mount on the back of a truck, that'll mix the concrete for you. They could call it a "cement blender" or something like that. I bet they could sell a lot of concrete that way, but that's a topic for another time...)

Anyway, it occured to me that since the 580 was sitting there in the backyard, and the mortar box is just slightly wider than the 24" bucket, I could save myself some time and effort.

I still had to do some of the final mixing by hand, but I'd say 75% of the real grunt work got done by the machine. Hey, what's the point of having the biggest yard tractor on the block if you don't get some use out of it?

I think thats pretty creative. aint no sense in just letting a big machine sit when you can put it to work on these kinds of things.
