Video- Manitowoc 18000 lifts corner node

The 2nd to last piece to lift at the new 1 World Trade Center in NYC for the 18000 was called the "corner node" There are 12 of these on the building, 3 on each corner ranging in different shapes and this was the 11th to go in. This piece is solid steel and weighs in at 55tons flat and was lifted to be set in 240 feet above street level. The first photo shows it on the 4 axle flatbed waiting to be pulled into the site.

Someones going to be a welding some beach. You see the size of those bevels! first time i seen a structural job with 36" full pens!
