A good bit of the dump trucks are tractor conversions, but wow are they nice :eek2 . They are all calendar quality material, almost too nice to get dirty.

The only good thing about them is they look nice otherwise they are no good for a dump truck. The market is flooded with used truck tractors and dealers figure they slap dump boxes on them they can flog them.

The problems with those trucks

Plastic Fairing
Too low to the ground
Big chrome bumpers for a big rock to hit
Air ride suspension that isn't designed for vocational use
Light rear axles (40,000lb)
Wrong axle gearing way too tall
Wrong transmission 9-10spds
Single frame light weight chassis

Those trucks would be okay if you never left pavement where all you did was haul from pin to pin with no heavy offroad work.

Yes their obviously not meant for offroad use. I have no idea what the jobsite conditions in that part of Texas are like. Like you said they might be good if they are being used a lot on the road and for all I know that could be exactly what happens to them.

lot of guys here in az. use em. they are one the pavement more than anything else. i am talking here in the valley phoenix metro area. the most they are off road is a 1/4 mile of well maintained haul roads for housing projects. they dont last as long but you can pick em up cheaper...
