Is the site slow or is it just me?
Seems to be since the new and latest updates most of the site loads slow anymore.
I have been on several other sites and they are all working fine.
The rest of my internet is just fine, no changes is speed except for here.

Honestly, I haven't noticed any problem. :beatsme

It seems the ads load up real quick like the rest of the board use to.
Now only the ads load up quick and the forum it self is real slow.

The site has definitely slowed down here. Before it was really fast, but now it takes quite a lot longer for the posts to download, especially the larger ones with a lot of photos.

I have to agree with you aswell. I thought it was my computer, but other sites come right up. Whats the deal?

I believe the site is running the way they have to so the ads show up and then .... pause.... read ads while waiting....then load the post. :) Before it was faster and maybe the ads were not being read. ????

I'm on 31.2kb dial up , it was slow before with all the banner adds , but that is what pays the bills . But now it is unbearable with the extra adds . It now takes 5 minutes or more to turn a page , i will miss our chats chaps . oorroo .

This is the first I'm learning of a problem. When we made the initial move I noticed that threads with a lot of photos were loading slower so we split the photos out to a faster server. I assure you we have not set things up to force you to read the banners. I'll get in touch with our tech, I personally have not noticed a problem.

Just to clarify, we've made changes over the past two weeks. Is it just the past two days that you all have noticed the site loading slow?

Hello Steve.
I have noticed the forum is slower than normal as well. First noticed it 3-4 days ago. Something new it is doing, to me at least, is...
If I spend much time at all on a post, and go to open another one, it is making me log back in before i can add anything to the new post.
not that I can't read a different post, I just can't add to it without logging my screen name and password again.
As others have stated before, the banner? background? of the page loads almost instantly, but there is a 30-40 second delay before the post itself appears.
I hope this helps. I know you guys, you'll get it licked soon.

Hi alan627b,
Just thought I'd see if that would happen to me too.
Probably not too many members slower than me at making a post...LOL
Are you checking the "remember me" box when you first log in?
OCR
Well, didn't seem to log me out.... Maybe, I didn't spend enough time on the first post... :beatsme
Also, page loading does seem to be considerable slower, but I have a satellite connection... and, I sometimes have issues with that.

This is new... now you can look at your edit history.
I think it's new anyway.... Last edited by.... is a link now.

I am having trouble replying too, I have been logged out twice, I didn't think I was that slow. Steve, the site has only slowed down here since the last upgrade, a couple of days ago. Before, it was really fast and the threads would load almost instantly. During the day (night US) when there are a lot of users online, it seems slower, but tonight there are only 9 members and 18 guests online, it does seem a bit faster. At the moment (morning US) the threads are taking between 4 and 7 seconds to load up, the larger threads with a lot of photos being slower. That is still fast compared to dialup, we are on wireless broadband here.

Right now I see there are 10 members on and 29 gusts and it is taking me about 40 seconds to load the rest of the page after the ads load.
Steve I only noticed it after the recent up grade a few days ago.

We think we have a solution to the loading problem, it may take a few days to get it in place. I'll check a couple things on the log-in troubles too. When you say you must log in, are you asked for both your screen name and password, or just the password?
As I've mentioned in another thread, we are now hosted on a series of servers. The "Who's Online" numbers are not accurate at this point, the numbers you are seeing are the number of users on one particular server, not the total number of viewers on line. We're working on that issue as well.
We're listening and working out the bugs, keep in mind we have regular job obligations to attend to as well and are working as fast as possible. Thanks for your patience!!

No problem Steve we under stand bigger and better things some times take a bit to work out the bugs, we just wanted to let you know about the slow down.
We appreciate everything you do to make the site better.
I my self have not had any trouble in logging in or staying logged in or any posting problems, just a slow loading forum.
Thanks again.

Steve, I was asked for both the screen name and password when I was logged off a couple of times last night, replying to this thread.
No problems with patience here, after 27 years in the crushing and contracting business, one learns to become very patient, otherwise one would go nuts!!!
Thank you once again for providing us with the opportunity to communicate with other like minded people from right around the globe.

It's 4 stinking degrees fahrenheit, Truckie! You need to start your computer up and let it sit and idle so it warms up before you start downloading anything. Sheesh. Don't you know nothing about computers? :cool2
(Did you remember to put some additive in to keep your DSL service from gelling?)

Well that sure got me laughing. That was good Digger.
Well you know how this new fuel is, it’s unpredictable.:beatsme:beatsme
I plugged the computer heater in last night and the DSL heater, but I must not of had enough additive in there.:Banghead

NOT HAPPY !!!!!!
5 times now tonight I have been logged out while browsing.
Before if I left the page for over 10 minutes without moving the cursor I expected to get logged out, but now it seems to do it while just browsing, it has made me loose a couple of posts I was going to make, and hitting the back button doesnt help either.
The major draw back is once logged in I go straight to the User CP button to reply to threads I am active in, once I get logged back in again after being evicted :o the User CP has no active threads. I then have to scroll through the latest posts to find the ones flagged.
While I'm moaning................ understand the advertising issue and expect I will get used to it but cant say I'm impressed.
Still a very very good forum and thanks for all your hard work Steve & the other mods. :drinkup

Dang nab it Digger, I got the fuel heater on, I got the computer heater on and even got some brand new additive in my DSL tank and connection and it is still slowing down.:beatsme
Seriously, yesterday worked great and now this evening it is back to taking a good 30 to 50 seconds for all the page to load after the adds.:beatsme
Just want to let you know what’s up Steve.

Rob, I made an adjustment, let me know if you have any further problems.
Truckie, I talked with our tech today and he's aware of the problem and thinks he has a solution. He does snow removal in addition to the web work, both he and I have been crazy busy in that area this past week. As soon as the weather settles down for a few days he'll get at it. Thanks for your patience!

No problem Steve I totally understand the being crazy busy with the weather and all. I just wanted to make sure I did not miss something and the problem was fixed and I did not know about it and had a problem on my end.
Thanks for letting me know what’s going on and thanks for the great site.

Thanks Steve. You seem to have cured the problem :thumbsup.
I logged in and went through the CP as usual then left the screen untouched for a good few minutes, when I came back its perfect, thanks.

We have just installed Satelite internet , about 450 kbps from 31.2 kbps . It seems fine now , were the problems rectified ?

There is still a slight lag time that we're working on. Both myself and our technician are involved in snow removal and last week's weather had us stationed in our trucks for most of the week. We'll try to have this resolved this week.

Steve , just a small thing that needs a bit of a tune up . The yellow band that runs top too bottom of the screen covers half the smilies when posting so they can't be used .
