How does someone cancel their account here on HEF?

Well to be honest, under my "Reaching for a Genuine" thread I posted "***** banned?" and it was deleated. Why?

Because we make it a policy not to have public discussions of disciplinary actions.

On one forum I am a member of, they have a specific thread for "suspensions and bannings", and the Mods and Admin will post the details of why somebody was banned or suspended. Speaking only for myself, I think that practice adds insult to the discipline. Even if somebody does something to get banned or suspended, that's between them and the staff, and there's no point in turning it into a public flogging.

I concur with what digger242j has posted. In addition, we do not randomly ban members and give a member every opportunity to correct a behavior that is in violation of our posting rules. at some point if our requests are ignored we must take action in order to preserve the atmosphere we wish to offer here at Heavy Equipment Forums. In order to prevent embarrassment to the member in question we do not discuss these actions with anyone other than that member, and do not wish to see it discussed on the Board.

You might note I removed the member's screen name from your post above for the same reasons.

These are not actions against you, but rather to protect the mentioned member's privacy.

Just remember, like my dispatcher always says, Its their sandbox, they can play how they want. If they dont want you talking about a banned member then dont. Have a problem with it, stop posting. Why have them waste their time in removing your account. Or, on the other hand, you could find a way to get yourself banned

I want my account closed and my name REMOVED from HEF. How is that wasting their time, it's their job. I could stop posting but for security and indentity puposes, completly removing is safer.

Sorry Cheesehead, we don't remove members from our Board, it would disrupt the threads. I will go into your account and remove all identifying information, but that's the extent of what we can do for you.

Not to mention that some other individual could then register using the same user name, and further confuse the issue.

Besides, this way leaves you the option of reconsidering...
