I couldn't find specs on the B-series mass excavator model, but it has to be around 100 tons. I would guess that the truck could probably pull it, but it might be tough to physically fit it on the trailer. A while back I saw a Komatsu Pc 650 being moved. They drove it over the trailer and then put blocks under the frame and lifted it up, it was an interesting setup to say the least. A 385 is bigger than than a 650, so it would take a pretty specialized trailer to move it assembled. The one pictured above takes up most of the trailer and doesn't even have a counter-weight attached.

Just wondering what the hydraulic ram on the back does? Nice machine.

My guess would be something to do with the counterweight, but that's only a guess...

I believe you're right Digger. You can see the counterweight in the first pic laying on the ground.

it is a counterweight removal device it is on most of the larger machines......

It has been together and a part for a few years now. Here it was in Malvern, PA back in early August '05.

I worked for Nick Falcone & Sons out of Media (near Malvern) a few years ago. But they don't have anything that big!

AAM is givng that machine back to G & R. they are replacing it with a new 345CL ME. i believe that they will take the gps system off of the 385 and put it on the new machine. as soon as we get it ill get pics of it......

Really? I don't mean to sound like I am doubtful, but why are they returning it for a smaller machine? Does this mean they are getting ride of the 740's as well? Still, can't wait to see the new machine.

thats what i have been hearing that whoe package is gone except the 14H. they figure it is cheaper to have 2 345 packages on the same job then to have 1 big package....

I believe there is a Cat 375 sitting at ablana cat in meyerville right off of Rt70. I saw it and was who do you have to talk to get to play with that.

The 85 in the 385 is for 85 tons. Just like a 120 or 312 is a 12 ton machine. an a 200 or 210 is a 20 or 21 ton machine. IE the numbers equal tonnage...

or so ive been told and it actuly make sense. because all the numbers line up with what the machines weight is.. give or take a few pounds.

In theory that is true, but a lot of cat machines tend to run a little heavier than their class. For example that 385 weighted in at almost 200,000 lbs, but it is an 85-ton class machine.

the 375 is just a few minutes from Valley Forge off rt 422 right now working with our new 365c on a pipe crew. To this point I haven't had the few time to run over and snap any pictures though.
