Here is our only excavator right now.

I heard from the boss (me) that we are going to be deciding if we should get a D8R, 924G Wheel Loader, or a 272 Skid Steer.

The loader and skid steer come with attachments. Any one got suggestions? I also plan on getting a nice new Kenworth with a lowboy from ebay. :)

Here is our backhoe. The boom cylinders went bad a few years back, never tried to fix it and it has just been laying around.

Wow A D11, Skid Steer, and a loader for under $100 this must be heaven. Or else I won the lotto. (Will be surprised when they are the size of his hand)

Great start , I have alittle over 100,(107 to be exact) Caterpillar 1:50 scale models coming in at nearly $8000.00 and thats not including my fleet of 12 1:53 Kenworth models , trucks with lowboys and dump trucks , diecast models a sure fire way to empty the wallet, but fun and keeps you out of trouble as long as you have an understanding wife or girlfriend

Ok I have made a choice. When I get back from vacation we will be ordering a new D11, 24H, and 924G. :) I dropped the skid steer because it was a different scale. ;)

I'd go with the 24H amazing detail, D11R CD not so great detail but has metal tracks ,and you can go wrong with the 924G , but the 24H is a must have

I would get the D11 before the 8 but with the 11 be prepared to get the silver paint out for the lights

Your not lying about them hitting the wallet. I'm close to 200 model, all excavators. You know when you spend $300-$400 on one model it does not take long to add up:eek: Last time I broke out the calculator I figured they were all worth about $20,000( that's the cost I have in them) it may be more as their value as increased.

I have pictures if anyone would like to see them... most are posted here
10th post from the top... that's most of them

Collecting models is great fun, the fun I find is getting a bargin, if you are patient the bargins do pop up, DHSDIECAST is also a very good site for all you model needs, I have about 40 odd diecast models and yes it helps very much to have an understanding partner!! Ebay is a good place to buy but you have to do a bit of research and compare prices etc, just like anything you buy, I buy a bit from an Ebay store called WEDOTOYS he has been great I live in AUS and have never had a problem

I have a Cat 420D IT and a Volvo BL 71, and they both work like trojans, but the Volvo has an issue with the extendahoe. We also have bell Hd820E III, a Cat 725, Volvo G720, michigan L320, Akerman EC360 and a Bell L2706D, but I have a few 1:87 as well.

But now I need help, there is a drawbar lock on my D11, the box says it can raise lower and tilt, it can tilt but the right drawbar can't raise or lower because of this bar. And it doesn't just slide out, I have tried everything, screw driver, knife...

I don't see any screws, just rivets.

About cutting it, what did you use, I don't think any metal saw I have would fit in there.

Here is my Hitachi Zaxis 200 digging a trench, and the new loader on the site, the 924G back filling.

I am getting tired, off to dream about the future (when I am 25ish) driving one of these beasts.. :usa

Hmm, I bet my grandpa has something in his shop that can cut it. I could always just take a drill, drill a hole in it and snap it.

After drilling 5 more holes we were ready to start trenching for the new water main.

The 420E was trenching and the 924G was making a pile to use as backfill after the pipe is in.

The camera wanted to focus on what there was more of on the backhoe. That is why the bigger equipment has better focus. :(
