I can not count anymore, how many times that I have had someone parking near or directly in the work area. How many of the members felt like doing this?

Yeah, but I'm with Will. There has to be a certain satisfaction in doing it intentionally. ***

I hadn't thought of it in years, but on one occasion we were working in the street. We posted no parking signs, provided by the police department, and maintained traffic in what would have normally been the metered parking spaces on the far side of the street. Some jerk pulled up and parked. We politely explained that we couldn't allow that, as it would block traffic, and pointed out an alternative parking space about 50 feet before our work area. He less than politely pointed out that threre were meters there, and he was going to park, and we shouldn't have a problem with that, because he would only be 10 minutes. We very bluntly explained that parking was prohibited, and he would be tagged and towed. He, even more bluntly explained that that was too F'ing bad--he'd be long gone by the time the police responded, and began to walk away. I politely (or maybe less than politely), said that that was no problem, we'd figure something out, and yelled for the operator to bring the backhoe, while I calmly walked to the truck and got a chain. I guess the guy must have known I wasn't kidding, because he quickly determined that there was a more desireable parking space in the next block...

On yet another occasion we had one builder constantly parking where ever he felt like it. The fix for that problem child was to take the truck clear on the other side of the site. That was, oh, roughly a half mile away in a heavily wooded section of the plan., completely down hill from where he parked the truck. As I was returning from placing this truck, the guy was in a real panic. He was asking evryone if they saw the truck. I told him the last time I saw it it was heading this way down the hill :roll . Since then he never parked or blocked a road in that plan :D :D

We had a prima donna once that had a brand new fancy pickup that he was always parking in the way because he wanted it close so he could watch it. One day we had a guy distract him with a bunch of questions and I picked up the back of the truck (backhoe loader bucket under the trailer hitch) and then we stacked scrap lumber pieces under each side of the axle so the wheels were just about 1/2 inch off the ground. He came out to go get lunch and of course the truck wouldn't move in either direction. He was really upset that something was wrong with his new truck. He called a tow truck service and they had it all hooked up ready to tow back to the dealer before they noticed the blocks. He never parked in the way again.
Another time there was a guy who used to come roaring into the job site and slide to a stop with dust flying everywhere. When he would leave he would floor it spitting dirt and rocks everywhere and fishtailing out of sight. This always irritated everyone else so one day when he was parked with the back of his truck close to the back of a 10 wheeler, some guys chained his trailer hitch to the pintle hitch of the 10 wheeler. He comes out to go home, starts the engine and floors the go pedal. About 10 feet later the slack came out of the chain and he came to an abrubt stop and ended up splitting his lip on the steering wheel. He hopped out wanting to kill someone but didn't know who and everyone was laughing. Every night for the next week or two he would make a complete circle around his truck checking to see if all was OK before getting in and leaving. He would then start out slow and after a couple hundred feet would floor it as usual.

Boy, that brings back memories -- used to use that trick back in the college days. Had several guys who would always stay parked right beside the door, in the loading zone, for as long as they thought they could get away with it - which was a bunch longer that the legal 10 minutes. The rest of us had to schlep stuff from the lot, some distance away. Well, we found that several guys could indeed pick up the back end of just about any car, and yup, there was always a few blocks that would go under the spring shackles, to gain that bit of daylight between tires and pavement.

Don't remember ever having to sanction the same guy twice.

Thanks for the memories.......

I just call over my guy with the loader, put some forks on the bucket and the vehicles owner either moves it imediately, or it winds up somewhere else real fast. its hillarious watching the guy looking for his car.

Several years ago dad and brother came in telling about a concrete foremanthat would run by their fuel tanks and splash the tanks and any one there at them fueling up. The foreman had a big laugh over it, dad was a dirt forman and operator at the time and on friday the concrete man left early and dad had ha 633 under cut that puddle so they could move the tanks and finish the right of way. it happened to be quitting time before it was backfilled and got left open. Dad told us it had rained that weekend and filled the hole to the top and it was about 4 feet deep. Monday they tried to stop the conceete man and he flew past them dad said he had a funny look on his face when that new Ford nose dived.
I worked on a job that was on TVA property and we had a strict rule about vegetaion zones. we had a crane operator that was 33 when I was 21 on that job. He was alwas mad at my professionalism. Hed drive his truck down to the river site to the the cran he ran but along the way hed always veer off and cut a donut in the vegetaion zones. TVA inspector wasnt pleased and had threatened us with a fine if it didnt stop. On after neeon I went and took a WA250 loader and a set of forks and plaed a few 2x2 boulders in the tall weeds. He got worned but the super one day then the next day when the super wasgone he cut one last donut and almost totaled his truck. that kept him and a few others in the flagged off roads we had from then on.
