Managed to escape the centre reservation at the weekend :) but only got as far as the southbound verge :Banghead :D Still, caught this going by.
Its on 9 axles and the outriggers are swing out, not telescopic. They are the yellow/black chevrons on side. Any suggestions on capacity? I reckon about 500t.
It was followed a few seconds later by this, spot the car on top at front :cool2 Then a while later 2 more lowloaders went by with more ballast weights on, but missed shot :Banghead
I did a Google search but not impressed by thier web site :( couldn't find a pic of it :) But I did find this vid on U tube about riggin a BIG un, pretty :cool:

Rob,

I've seen specs on cranes like that and I'm gonna say that that beast is probably around a 1,000 tons or so.

ok, well it's only 750 ton but that's still DARN LARGE.:D I tried to get a job at a local lifter. They had a Grove 5240 and that's the largest crane around here. They wanted a guy to drive their lowboy that they moved equipment with and a operator for their 90 and 240 ton cranes. I guess that $15/hr was just too much for them.

I'm going to add these in here rather than start a new thread as I think the title is still relevant :D It is a big mobile.
In fact there were two on site last night and both rigged in the carriageway with traffic passing on the hard shoulder. NOT a tandem lift, the two were about half mile apart both placing gantrys across the motorway.
Must have been quite spectacular for Mr Joe Public to not only see a reason for all the cones and backlog of traffic but two operations with one set of holdup, that cant be right surely :D need an inquirey.
Sorry pics a bit shakey, I had the shutter speed real slow and really needed a tripod thingy ***
Basically a 200t mobile on southbound carriageway, two trucks on northbound.
Unload both trucks, bolt two sections together ( 64 bolts I believe ) then lift.
Once both crews were ready a rolling road block was instigated on both carriageways to hold the traffic whilst the gantrys were swung across the width of the road and set over the installed uprights from Friday night.

I was there to fill the front of one of the bases for the cherry picker. There is no access during the day due to traffic. The half hour job took me all night as once done I could not get back passed the cranes outriggers. :Banghead
The only benefit is you get some pictures, so a right result. :D
The last picture shows the crane short rigged ( outriggers pulled in ) doing his last lift picking up his mats to load on the artic along with the extra weights he had used.
