Hi Guys!

does anybody know the working height of a 955H loader without cab? i found i really good looking machine for sale, and have a project were i would need to empty a basement of a old factory.
I was thinking to do it with my MF3366, but i'm to scared to break it :D
now the floor to roof height is 2 meters/6,6feet, but i will carry out the floor to make some more height in the basement, to a total of 3 meters/9.8feet.
the 955h should be a pedal steer machine right? how are the bucket levers? one or two levers?
is there something bad with them? something i should check out?

Sparffo, the 955H is quoted as 8.0ft high in the cat perf handbook and 8ft 8" in another book (no canopy).... either way you won't have much room.

The 955H is an old machine now, they were built from '60 to '67 and only the later ones were pedal steer. They have the D330T @100h.p. and a 2 speed p/s transmission with a manual hi-lo range selection.

They are a 2 lever machine.

Thanks for the great info Rusted!

it has the same engine as my D6C then, at least they sound nice and has a lot of grount:cool:
is it two speed forward and to backwards+ the high and low range? or just forward and reverse with the manual high and low, it sounds a lot like the MF gearbox, it has forward and reverse+ hi/lo range.
on the MF this is a pain in the ... thing, especially when moving around alot. on short distance loading it works, but is slow when you have to shift in neutral between Hi/LO. ok, its possible to do quite heavy work in the HI range, but the turbine heat goes quite fast to hot.

The later 955K and L has the 3 speed F/R P.S. right? but here in Finland its almost impossible to find a trackloader younger than the H, and wouldn't like to spend a lot of money to bring one from Europe for a job that i estimated and offered for 15000€.
The asking price for the 955H was 7500€, so i could almost pay it on the job! then it can be a usefull second spare machine.
I will have to take a look at it, and measure how high it is when i'm sitting on it, maybe i could trim the exhaust to make it fit. I'm quite short :D

at least it would be light years faster than a miniexcavator, first with hammer then dig + bobcat to bring the stuff out. the trackloader would do both!

Sparffo, not quite the same engine, your D6C has the D333T...the D330T in the 955 is only 4 cyl.

Yes, the K/L series are 3spd p.s.

the machine was 2,8 meters (9,18 feet) high, to the top of the cab! and it has plenty of free space above the head, soo i can take the cab of and win some free space:cool: but i think i will wear a hard hat when working, i can't imagine the damage done by this machine inside a building if i hit my head hard and go black out...
The serial was 60A7405, does anybody know any facts?
I think i will go and buy it next thursday! they ask 7500€ for it (11600$).

Sparffo, 60A7405 makes it a 1964 build in U.S.A.

It should be a hand steer with that serial number....hope you've got a spare pair of hands.

Thanks again Rusted! at least your head can't be so rusted, when you know these machines so well! :D

When i saw it is a lever/pedal steer, the first thing that crossed my mind was that i should hire a buddha god from india with 4 arms to opertate the machine :D

It can be quite hard to opertate in tight spaces when arms are occupied all the time:Banghead

My MF3366 at least has the levers so they release the cluch and apply even brakes when pulled harder, then it has a accelerator pedal to set the pace. but but you have to look like a symphony conductor lost in a bulldozer when operating it...

anything special that i should watch out for when buying it?

Go back a little further in time and add a hand clutch and gearshift. We used to hire a guy with his HD5 that would kick the throttle down with his foot (on the dash) when he was loading trucks.
