Just want to say hello and tell everyone a little about myself.
My name is Rich, and I'm from RI.
I own a small excavating company here called
Midstate Const.
We generally do water, sewer hookups, repairs. We also do foundations, septic systems, and any other general excavating.
I am 35 years old and have been in this field since I was about 14 years old.
Decided about 3 years ago to go out on my own and have had the usual growing pains associated with starting with nothing.
Right now we have a good customer base, some builders, referrals from past customers, other contractors.
We have a wide range of equipment, Skidsteer, 2 excavators, a dozer, a couple of dump trucks, a tractor, dump trailer, low bed, and a whole bunch of support equipment.

Thanks for the great site.
The knowledge and experience of everyone here is what brought me here.
Hopefully I can learn and contribute.

Rich

Welcome to HeavyEquipmentForums.com!!!:drinkup

We hope you enjoy your time here, have a look around and feel free to jump in on anything you see, or start your own threads if you like. There's a good bunch of people here who are always willing to help!

I'll offer one word of caution from what I've learned since being in business. You mention working for other contractors, I've had the most difficulty in collecting fees from other contractors, I tend to shy away from that work. When considering a new client, do a little research on them with others in your field to determine if they pay their bills promptly. A few open invoices can put you in a world of hurt very quickly.

I know just what you mean. There are only a select few of other contractors who I will work for in the area.
