Ugly as sin and uncomforatble as walking in on the mother-in-law in spandex :spaz :throwup . Other than the trashed operator station she's ready to go. Add some duct tape might get it running. :D :crazy in all seriousness if i had the dough id prolly buy it for the heck of it spend a little time and take care of some of the heavier stuff around here.

Hello Bear,

The Operator station is not trashed. The seat is just tilted forward. Like in a pickup or car to gain access to the rear.

Everything looked in reasonable decent shape considering the age. Sign said everything works.

Looked like the sliding crane cab door was missing. Perhaps stored somewhere else.

Neat ol piece. Definitely a face only a mother could love LOL!

there is a track version(Detroit powered) for sale locally here. Not sure, but I assume it runs as it had to get to spot somehow.

If I was closer , I know I would buy it just to add to my growing collection. I don't have a truck crane yet !

Ill say this much, she looks to be in good shape. A lot better than the factory does. She must have came off the line in the factories hay day. Now, the factory is barely standing, empty. Many people have since used and abused the factory.

The more I look at the old girl the more I realise: 1: how much I'd like to have it. 2: How broke I really am.:bash :Banghead

I v'e never realy stoped to look at it, but I didn't think the factrory looked that bad (or maybe it just looks better from the road). When did the outfit that was in there last close? I thought they were still useing it?

I ran a crawler version of this model back around 1979. Our shop in Detroit sorta worked on it and said it was good to go, but I knew better. Couldn't get the truckie to haul it closer to the work site at US Steel's Gary Works, so I had to road it nearly six miles -- with one travel clutch not working properly. Did a lot of backing and filling that night. Our operators ran it for a few days, drawing straws to see who lost and got the privledge. Than they refused to run it anymore, but by that time we had a better unit available, a Northwest model 6.

Well, I see the Bay City Crane disappeared from the roadside. So it might have been sold, or they had to remove it, from that location, being in a public ROW.
