Deere 605c or cat 939c

our 943 is getting worn out and we are goin to update tractors i was looking at the new deere 605c it looks like a nice tractor or the cat 939c i have ran the 939 and it was not inpresive we own a 935c also and the 939 just reminded me of the 935. i was currious what everyones opinions on this subject is does anyone out there have any experence with the deere?

I kind of think the 605C would eat the 939C for any meal of the day -- but I don't have material proof of this.

Deere 605C is the size of the 943. The 939 is smaller and not as handy because it is front engine design like a dozer. I honestly dont think you would like going to front engine after you had rear engine on the 943. Just my thoughts.

Yea the 605c is between the 939 and 941/3. If you have ever been on a 650h/j you pretty much have been on a 605c. Everything is deere besides the frame. Has the same engine, undercarriage, & final drives. Its got the 4045 engine at 99hp. Its quiet,quick and fast. Just don't use it like a 755. I still like the old 555G's. I have not ran the 605 yet but I know any rear mounted engine loader is going to crush a front mount motor any day. After you fill a bucket with heavy dirt or mud you have the engine on the back counter balancing vs. the front engine which is only going to help nose dive. Stick with rear mount like your 943. Oh by the way I think Cat made a huge mistake dropping the 943 model.

i agree with you on that one the 943 was a good tractor i talked to the people at cat they told me that the came out with the 939 to replace the 943 that was a mistake. My deere salesman stoped by the other day amd brought me some paperwork on the 605c the more i read on it the more i like it. Now i just got to get him to bring me one out to demo. Cant wait!

That is good since the 939 is junk in my opinion. What is funny though is that every time Cat remodels the loader lineup they keep making them bigger. The new D series is the largest 953,963,and 973 they have ever made. They need to re make the 943 with the new cab of the D series and Deere would tremble in their boots. I always am open minded when it comes to equipment and I don't like just one brand but when it comes to loaders it all the way Cat for me unless you need the 943 replacement then I would say the Deere 605.

The increase of bigger CTL's, in my opinion, has killed the smaller steel track loader market. A CTL is cheaper to buy/operate and can be just as productive as a 939 and equivalent in general operating conditions. Of course each machine has its place. The rubber tracks will be eaten alive in rock and would be more expensive than a 939/605 to operate in those conditions.

CTL's and track loaders both have their places. I have a Bobcat T250 and a 953C that work hand in hand alot of times - they are a good compliment to each other. The T250 can be transported easily and the 953C is for the bigger jobs. I would not consider a track loader of the 605C-939C size, just get a big CTL. IMHO.

We already have a cat 287b but were we work the 287 will not dig this hard pan so we have to get the track loader to dig the hard stuff

I would demo the Deere first and see if it will do the job.If not and money wasn't a issue i would jump up to a 953 size machine.Probably in the long run would be a better over all choice.

Unless size was an issue or other things that you haven't mention might change things.Good luck:usa

Might want to consider a ripper on your next loader if the ground is that hard must of the time.:usa

I bought a new 605C last September. It is a very nice machine, the rear engine gives much better balance than the Cat 935 I used to own.

This little loader also has 99 HP, the Cat 943 had 80 HP.

I am happy with this machine. Moving up to the 953 or larger machine is also a good option, but this machine at 26,000 lbs can be moved on a roll back truck if necessary. The larger machines need to ride on the lowbed.

As for the CTL with rubber tracks, they are great for the right conditions, but they are not going to replace a real trackloader. I owned a Ghel CTL80, the tracks were replaced at about 980 hours. The rubber tracks cost more per hour than the undercarriage on my D6.

I tried out a 939 today... and I have spent a bit of time in a 605 Deere... the 939 has nothin on the little Deere. I used to always want a front engine track loader because they look cool... but wow did it suck for doing just about anything!

Deere all the way.... well until you get into the 655 and up models, because you can't see anything out of em!

So what did you think about the little 605C - power, speed, etc? Did you run a 605 with the joy stick or V-pattern? It looks like it would be an interesting little machine that would have it's nitche. As far as comparing it to 10 year old 939 engineering - I bet the 605 will run circles around it.

The 605 was the joystick control machine. My first time in a real joystick track loader other than our Cat 257 MTL. The 939 was a powershift model, no hydrostat so that obviously made it feel weird for me. The 605 would definately run circles around the 939, but thats to be expected. The 605 is in a market all its own, and in our area they are selling pretty well. I have seen 5 or so of them kickin around and the guys are loving em. They are great for workin around between houses.

I have now sat in all the major players as far as track loaders go, 605,655,755,943,953,963,973 and a 977L. By far my favourite is a 973C still. I would still like to play with all of them in a single day though. Get a real comparison going for them and get a feel for all the models. As I'm sure you guys can tell, I am a bit of an iron slut.... I make my way around the fleet.
