I bought a Sumitomo mini-ex model SH38UJ-2 with the Isuzu 3 cyl. Problem is it is blowing a 25 amp fuse and quits. The first time i changed the fuse and it fired up and ran. Some time later it blew the fuse again and now it just keeps popping them as soon as they are put in. The glow plugs come on, fuel pump comes on and it cranks but no start. It will start off starter fluid but only runs for a few seconds and i hate using it. I have already replaced the fuel shut down solenoid and have traced the wire harness from the fuse panel down to the main valve body under the floor. I unplugged the harness there and my test light shows no short from the fuse panel to the plug so now i can put a fuse back in. It still test's as a short to ground from the plug to behind the engine and the wire also splits into two different circuits. Now my question is where can i find a service/repair manual for this machine? I already bought a parts catalog from Dominion Equipment which came right from Japan but is written in English. I am sure the short is effecting the fuel delivery. I started pulling the plates off the bottom to gain access under the engine but some genius "me" had to park the counter weight right over the blade so i have no room to work no less several feet of snow :Banghead . Does anyone here think they know how to bypass this circuit so i can at least start it and spin it around so i can repair it properly? I have also found that some Case's may be the same but i am not 100% sure. Thanks and sorry for the long post.

The smallest Sumitomo in the CASE lineup currently is the CX 80. I don't know how much your machine and this one will have in common. Pehaps building a jumper wire and start at the fuel delievery system and see if you can jump past the short and narrow your search down. Electrical issues suck especially when it is cold and miserable.:Banghead

I have checked with three Case dealers with no luck but not from their lack of trying though. I was talking to this friend of mine who is only 21 yrs old and he is telling me that i can unscrew the fuel shut down solenoid from the injection pump and it will start and run but to shut the engine off the solenoid will have to reinstalled. I already varified that i have fuel to the injection pump and it will start and run on starting fluid. My question now is he correct? It makes sense to me but i have minimal knowledge of Diesels. Right now it is too damn cold to try it, i have to wait for it to get warmer.

Well it finally warmed up enough to try removing the solenoid, i unscrewed it, let the glow plugs cycle and it fired right up. I let it run for about 20 minutes and then began working it out of the ice. The blade was froze in under about 3' of snow, between pushing down with the boom and picking up the blade it finally broke free. I had to keep working the tracks back and forth to get them broken out of the ice. I raised it up in the air and blocked up the tracks this time so it wouldnt refeeze. I spun the machine around so now i have access to the belly of it to repair the short. I turned the key off and spun the solenoid back on and it shut off. Thank you for the responses.
