Just found out Deere will no longer sell Telehandlers. We like our Deere Telehandler on our farm and their is no other manufacture that makes one that fits our needs on the farm like the Deere does. I guess we will have to keep it fixed up and make it last a long time.:Banghead

What applications do you use yours for? My family demoed one when they first came on the market. Our primary need was the silage defacer but i didn't seem like the machine had enough hydrulic capacity to operate properly, it would stall frequently also boom in and boom out operations were not as fluid as some other brands we have tried. Mabey our bunk is packed to much for it to operate properly? We still haven't found a good replacement for our old w-11 case.

We pick up our large square bales of hay. I know it is a little slow but their are too many points that fit our operation perfectly when others we have demoed just didn't do the job correctly.

Don't mind the music, my brother put it on their. That was from a couple of years ago. Now we have a bale accumilator behind the baler that puts the bales in packs of 3 so we can just grab 3 bales at once and put them on the wagons or the Semi truck.
We use Steffen systems racks on the front and have a bale press in a shed that cuts the bales down to normal kick bale size for delivery purposes.

The first picture on steffens web site of two tractors pulling small square balers is us before we got the big baler. That is how we did it before.Even with both those John Deere's running two balers they could never cover as much acres in a day as our big 3x3x8 baler can.

i like your magnum!! nice to see some red power. like i said, so far my parents have not found a machine that fills all the voids but it seems like your deere has no lack of power to handle the big bales. i like the handler you have! we are looking @ purchasing a Bale Bandit for use in sale hay as well as straw. another piece on my wishlist is the haying mantis. but maybe when i take over operations . most of our hay is cut for silage and bagged. Nice self propelled. how do you like the disc head? do you cut any barley or rye?here are some pics of our operation.

Yea the new self propelled works good now. It was the first year model and it had some major updates that had to be done to it. It took 2 mechanics one entire day to do all the updates to it. Love the air ride air bags for the back axle it sure helps with the ride.

Yea we cut rye for straw. Last year we messed up the rollers custom cutting rye for another farmer when we ran a rock up though them. He is a lazy farmer that never picks up any rocks. We won't ever cut for him again.

Here is how we get the rye straw to bleach out nice and yellow. We don't let it go to seed since we don't combine it.

Well, I would say look into the Bobcat telehandler, as it is a multi-purpose machine designed for both construction and agriculture. There is also Manitou, though a little less popular in NA, it is very popular in Europe. JLG has also come out with a smaller machine taylored more towards agriculture. Model G6-23a from JLG is a similar size to the John Deere. The Bobcat v723, and Manitou MLT are also of similar size.

John Deere should still support your machine, and it should give you many more years of production.
Nice operation by the way, looks like way too much fun.

We tried a Bobcat but didn't like the engine on the side. We like how the Deere has the engine behind the cab. This allows better visibility out of the side window which in our case is very nessesary. Also we didn't like the hydrostat transmission. It ran out of power very fast. The Manitou would be our choice to look at now that Deere stopped making tele's. We did check them out but Deere came in cheaper and the dealer support for Deere is way better.

do you like that kuhn? we tested a two wheel windmill rake and really liked it. just way to expensive.

We like the Kuhn but they have allot of weak points on them and don't like hitting ground hog holes much. We have their tedders and the rakes. They work good but they are EXPENSIVE. That is all our family farm does is bale and sell hay so it is an expense that we have to spend for quality hay. The big tedders sure can fluff up a field of hay in a hurry though.

That is allot of blacktop in the background and one huge building. Where was that picture taken? That looks like one huge operation.

This was in MN on a 30,000 head dairy. This picture was taken on one half of the operation. Interesting enough this operation went away from telehandlers grinding silage because they couldn't get enough flow and pressure and it was taking them several hours to grind. The 624J can grind for 30 minutes and accomplish more than the telehandlers did in 2 hours!

BigBen,
I'm a little biased, but we have a devoted group of customers who love JCB's 541-70 AGRI machine. It is a side mounted engine, but has excellent visability.

We used a fleet of these machines at the US Grand Prix at Indy the last couple years. They were standard 541-70 not the Agri versions that have higher HP and more creature comforts.

We replaced 2 CAT telescopics for ag use just this week. The National Farm Equipment show is in Louisville next week. Lot's to see there.
PS. We used to sell Manitou's. I'd steer clear unless their parts distribution gets better.

We love our JCB. John Deere bought a company called Matbro in the UK, this was the base for all JD telehandlers.
