On a cut slope, 1 1/2 :1 bought down progressively.
On a fill slope, 4:1 with the full machine and then light cuts. Other wise that is best left to dozers. Generally the fill is loose and you end up at the bottom of the slope, needing a pull, to get out if the terrain is bad, or ROW limited.
On fill slopes of 3:1 and 2:1, I keep on wheel on top and one over the side, as the fill is brought up in lifts.
There are slopeboards for dozers and graders , on the big jobs. This keeps them level and on good footing. :)
The slopeboards work the cut or fill slopes progressively, in 4' cuts or fills generally. Good operators can make pretty slopes, immaculate, right on slope grade all the way. :)
