A member asked me a question about how to quote other posts. As there isn't a place that really tells you how to do it I'll explain it here for everyone to see. For the sake of better explanation, I will use this post as an example while making the next post containing the steps.

First you'll need to scroll to the post you would like to quote. Then hit the 11230 "QUOTE" button below the post you have chosen. This will automatically open a reply page with the quoted text showing on the reply. I have quoted my previous post and this is what automatically appears in the reply screen:

Notice the quote tags at the beginning and end of the quoted text. These must be unaltered for the quote to work correctly. You can remove any text you don't want in the quote by deleting it but the quote tags must remain intact.
Now that you have inserted the text you wish to quote, you can reply as usual. Type your reply below the quoted text.
------------------------------------------------
This forum also allows you to quote multiple posts. You will need to hit the 11229 "MULTI-QUOTE" button beside each post you would like to quote. After hitting the button, it will change to orange like this 11231.
On the last post you multi-quote, hit the "QUOTE" button located below that post. This will take you to the reply page with the quotes you have selected. There will be quote tags around each post you have selected. Again, these must be left intact for the quotes to work.
------------------------------------------------
There is also a third way to quote. Copy the text you would like to quote and manually paste it in the reply box. Highlight the text you wish to quote and hit the 11232 "QUOTE TAG" button in the toolbar above your reply. This will manually add tags around the post, making it into a quote as shown below:

Now you can reply as usual below the text you have quoted. Once again, leave the quote tags unaltered or the quote won't work correctly.

After you hit the "Submit Reply" button, the finished quote(s) will look like this if you use the first or second method.

It will look like this is you use the third method.

Another question came up about quoting that I hadn't covered. Again, the first post will be used as an example here.
I'll be explaining how to break down a single post into multiple quotes so that you can respond to different parts of a post.
First, you'll need to hit the quote button on the post you would like to quote. After it takes you to the reply screen, seperate each part of the post by putting spaces between them like below:
A member asked me a question about how to quote other posts.
As there isn't a place that really tells you how to do it I'll explain it here for everyone to see.
For the sake of better explanation, I will use this post as an example while making the next post containing the steps.
Now you need to highlight the first part you have seperated. With it highlighted, click the 12394 "QUOTE TAG" button in the toolbar above the reply. This will add quote tags for you. Repeat that process for each part you have seperated.
After you've added quote tags to each part, type your reply to each part between them. It will look like this on the reply screen:
A member asked me a question about how to quote other posts.
Your text here.
As there isn't a place that really tells you how to do it I'll explain it here for everyone to see.
Your text here.
For the sake of better explanation, I will use this post as an example while making the next post containing the steps.

Type your reply to each part in the space you used to seperate them. Again, leave the quote tags intact or it will not work correctly. When you hit the "SUBMIT REPLY" button, your post will show like this:

Tim, I believe that you have to make a certain # of posts- 3, I think, but I'm not sure- before you can start your own thread. So post a couple more times and then give it a try.:drinkup
