I posted these previously, but they got lost in the server upgrade. :beatsme Don't think many people had time to see them.

Here's some pix of the Sealift that brings in HUGE modules built elsewhere, where the labor and material is cheaper. Even with the extra cost of building stronger and more compact for transport requirements, construction time and environment also enters.

They just roll these modules into prepared sites, usually next to existing projects for expansion purposes, connect up the plumbing, electrical, etc and they are operational in a very short time. :usa

Notice the 1 1/4" plywood laid on the weak shoulders for firm support.

Notice the wandering caribou on the road in the last pic.

More pix of the Sealift.

Notice the steel I beams , next to the man walking. These were welded to the deck of the ocean barges for transport.

Once on site the module is lowered onto prepared piling, and the Scheurle Trailers are driven out , going back for another load.

The Scheurle Trailers come in segments that are pinned together for different load requirements. Hydraulic driven by Mercedes Benz Diesels. The wheels are similar to nose gear on aircraft. Swivel, raise and lower. Highly manueverable.

The modules pictured were in the 2,000 to 5,000 ton range . :)

I really dont think it would matter if it was or not...as big as it is if it falls over they are screwed anyway...

That is modules built elsewhere, shipped in by ocean going barges.

The Scheurle trailers move the modules from the barges , onto the dock and down the road to their final destination.

Jeff D, they are of a different time , same place. Alaska Flag is on the truck.

they are kinda, those photos are from a sea lift a few years before. the photo is actually taken in Portland OR at the terminals as we were loading them onto the barges for the trip north to Prudhoe. I am driving the Hendrickson PM with the American flag on it. Once in Prudhoe we move these to the CCP (Central Compressor Plant) The modules were 97' wide 220' long and weighed 3860 ton (about 8,000,000 pounds) the 2 Prime movers weighed 550,000 each with counter weights, the trailer system (Goldhoffers) had 768 (give or take a few) tires and weighed right at 1,000,000 lbs. Fun move!
