I just line up about 20 - 30 logs on end in a radius around one of our excavators and split them with the teeth. its fast and pretty fun at the same time. logs have to be on a harder surface though

I built one myself about 9 years ago but I don't use it for splitting logs. :D

I just used an I beam for the frame and boxed some heavy steel around it so the splitting anvil could ride on.

Mine is a lot more heavy duty than what you would probably need. I don't have any pics of it that I know of but here's a video that might give you an idea as to how I made it. :drinkup

Geez!!! That sounds like a Detroit powering that splitter! Man, that thing could split some wood!

Yea, at my old place, the only hydraulic power unit I had was powered by a detroit 371. I'd just rig up the hoses and spool valve from my old tire cutter and crush away. :D

I now have 3 phase at my new place and have gathered most of the parts I need to put an electric hydraulic power unit together to get to crushing again. :drinkup

here's a couple pics I found of my crusher that might give you a better view of what I did.
