View Full Version : Dumptruck Stand
Thought I would post this method of lifting the front of Large Dumptrucks.
Simply Position the stand in front with pins in place then power the truck forward and it tilts up on the stand raising the front end off the ground about 10 inches. Some very un-easy noises while its ramping up but its a great method for doing simple tyres changes to brake-pack change-outs etc.
I was wondering if other Company's do this?

Pretty slick idea Ross. :drinkup
Out here they just use the air-over-hydraulic bottle jacks. Once it's up they crib it until they're finished.

Neat idea, like a kick stand.

Neat idea.
I used to jack up the back end of large end dumps by placing a similiar stand beneath the lip of the bed, then raise the bed on up till the rear wheels came off the ground. Then place the bed lock pins in the holding brackets as a safety device. Learned that trick from a tire guy many years ago.
To lift the front, we used a Letourneau 1200 or 1800, Cat 992, or Michigan 475 loader bucket. A Cat D9L ripper frame worked as well, as did a Demag 285 or 485 shovel. Once the wheels were off the ground, two custom made jack stands were put in place.
The air over hydraulic jacks work quite well with a custom built spacer.

Have to be very very carefull when lifting the rear when the front is on the stand pictured as you will know the truck will edge backwards.

Problem is the only machine(s) that can lift the trucks (O&K RH200) is miles down the field. The only hard ground for the jacks (25mt square) is always cluttered with other plant.
Thanks for the comments. This method has to be seen and heard to appreciate the weight's and force's involved in the lift.
