After seeing the post for a Mechanics list I was wondering if we could get another forum section. As somtimes its hard to always get the answers you want on breakdowns, repair work, welding, fabrication, shop stuff, etc, etc, etc. Just a thought, that I think would make it easier for guys with those type of questions to post and get the best possible response.
What do you guys think.

I think the way it's been working is that people have been posting their mechanical questions in the forum appropriate for whatever type of machine they're having the problem with. Dozer difficulties are posted under dozers, excavator problems under excavators, etc. To put all the mechanical questions into one general forum, without distinguishing between equipment types, might lead to those questions not being noticed as readily as they are now. (I don't know that for sure though.)

As far as things like fabrication and welding, and general wrench turning--what you might call "general mechanical skills", that idea might have some merit.

While we don't want to make the site too hard to navigate by having too many forums and sub-forums, we're always open to suggestions on how to make things run better around here, so if anybody else has a differing opinion, or simply cares to speak in support of one point of view or another, please, join in the discussion.

I echo digger242j's comments. I'd rather keep all topics including mechanical problems within the forums already dedicated to certain types of machinery. You're not the first to mention this but at present it seems to work well as things are currently operating. Thanks.

Thanks, I had thought a bit that you may have looked into it before but wasn't sure. I understand by making things as simple as can be, and if its working well, then don't fix it.
