Hello all, just got back from Atlin where there is a new molybdenum mine being opened up. The town has a (very) small heavy equipment museum, and this unit is the star of the exhibit. It's a (claimed) Bucyrus Erie 3/4 yard shovel, said to have been used on the construction of the Panama Canal before being disassembled and used on a claim. It was disassembled, dragged across two lakes by a Cat, and reassembled. Grains of salt provided; enjoy the photos.

Nice photos, Back then the operators were the hardest working guys on the crew.

Here is it's companion piece; slightly more 'character' and old-world charm. Bonus pic of a tractor I am VERY tempted to drag into the back of the truck... :D

Cool! That old 2 ton would be a kick to putt around on.
