Whhy am I unable to reply to a thread where someone is asking for help trying to find a part? Would seem to me that that kind of info is benificail to all, not just the one asking.

Threads posted in the "Wanted/For Sale" section are only able to be replied to by the original author. The reason for this is to avoid dickering on the Board or comments from other regarding the value of the sale.

A good mechanic rarely uses hammers to do things, backyarders like me use hammers to get the job done and stuff things up;)

I, respectfully, beg to differ with ya Hendrik...a hammer is an invaluable tool for any wrenchbender, shadetree or otherwise. If you were out in the bush on your excavator and busted a hyd line and all you had was a hammer to work with, you could remove and re-install that hose with just a hammer, without destroying the connections. ;)

I did say rarely and not never...........which reminds me of the time I helped a supposedly experienced truck driver change brake pads on a trailer, one of the pins was real tight and this fella got heat and a sledge hammer onto it, finally got the pin out but when everything was reassembled it turned out that the brake assembly had been bend that bad that a good centimeter of brake shoe was hanging outside the brake drum. Needless to say da boss was less than impressed with the job and let the hammer and heat man know all about it.

I hear ya, brother. Ahhh lifes lessons learned hard. Heck we've all messed up something on occasion. It's how we learn what to do and what not to do. And it's obvious you haven't forgot this little event, and I dare wager if you were to encounter a stuck brake pin today, your current procedure would be somewhat different...guided by experience. :D :cool2
