Those rigs could tell some interesting stories if they could talk. Lot of scrap metal there, just waiting to be cut up. Nice looking guard mutt in picture #23.

When do trucks come to an end of life and not worth fixing or rebuilding anymore?

I wonder if it wasn't a case of them running out of work due to economic reasons, and that being the reason they were considered not worth fixing?

I think they are on vacation not dead. Maybe just waiting to be rehired.

Nice site and great pictures.
wrenchbender you may have to work your magic on some of those rigs, and the ones that are not worthy of the magic touch we can cut up and scrap with one of the shears I run, or let the mighty cutting torch rip through them.

Wrench, I'm sure there is life in those old gals yet but those tires should at least be kept inflated to prevent permanent damage to the tire sidewalls beads and rims.

I also reckon they were working in cold climates seeing the winter front on at least one of the trucks (pic 21)

With all the parts there, they should be able to make at least five or six of them run...

That's one of the reasons I thought they might just have been walked away from, for lack of work, rather than that being a parts type yard. At the price of big rubber these days, if the trucks themselves are junk, you'd think the tires would be one of the first things to go.
