The cellphone conversation went something like this:

Me: Hey, Bill, You know the old green gangbox that all the oil and stuff is stored in?

Continued....

Me: Well, be careful..there's a great big hornet's nest in there.

Bill: You didn't kill them did you??

Me: No, I was too busy running the other way!! Why?

Bill: Oh, Good. I'm leaving them alone in there so nobody steals anything....

This time of year they aren't too defensive yet, but come October, look out! Neat idea as a theft deterrent though!

I never noticed that October thing with them. My observation has been that by then, the cold\cool nights have pretty much whipped them into docileness (not sure if that is a word lol). They seem to be busy just tryiong to keep up enough energy to get their work done on the warm sunny days by that point, and aren't too interested in battling with me any more.

That's funny Don! With my cheap camera I'd be pretty much hanging out with them to get that shot. But they don't really scare me too much, I've learned to live with them & they seem like dogs pretty much. Show them you're afraid & they'll bite, but act like you belong in their territory & don't let them smell the fear & they'll just check you out for the most part. Now slamming the lid on tool boxes & dumpsters where they've made a home, then I'll move pretty quickly in the opposite direction lol.
