Why are steal prices so high? Ive read this on other threads that say steal prices are higher than befor why is this?

Simply put, supply and demand. Supply is low because the majority of recyclable steel is being shipped to China and Japan and demand is up because the economy's in pretty good shape. This is what governs prices.

I was gonna say - the price hasn't gone up. If you steal it, it's free. ;)

On a side note, paver prices in the midwest seem to be going up, and I hear it's because there is a building boom in the south, where many of the clay mfgs are.

Concrete is also going up in price, for some of the same reasons.
