The Coast Guard operates a loran station on St. Paul Island in the middle of the Bering Sea, They flew a C130 with a loaded fuel truck in to refill the tanks. When they landed the pilot reversed his props to slow it down. Three reversed and one didn't. It hung a right and went out into the tundra. The nose gear collapsed and one of the wings hit the ground. No one was hurt and the fuel truck stayed put. They disassembled the plane and hauled it to our dock and we off loaded it into the yard.

Considering what could have happened, I'd say they had a really GOOD day!
Cool pics! (Again.) :thumbsup

Those D-300s on the barge look like they are rusty
It was good the plane didn't get more damaged they were lucky. Another rarity to see is a old GMC General (gray truck tractor) still in use :D
Looking at the pictures reminds me of what we do here just looks a little colder :yup

Those Cat articulaters were just passing though on that barge. They belong to an outfit that was doing a road job down in King Cove. The old tractor is a brigadier and belongs to the Coast Guard. We dohave a couple Generals though. Parts for them pretty much don't exist anymore. They are offroaders now.

The barge is owned by Crowley Maritime, Its 240' X 70' X16'. Crowley operates world wide I believe. They own container ships and fuel and deck barges and hundreds of tugs.

Nice pics, thanks!
Great photographs... I'm glad I don't have to fix stuff that flies... must be a terrific responsibility to ensure airworthiness after a big bump like that!
I didn't know what a loran station was  until I googled it and found wikipedias explanation ... the internet is great isn't it!
