I have had a design firm knock up a few logo's for my new LLC. I want to keep it simple so it can be used for everything from business cards to writing the truck and machines.

I would really appreciate any suggestions.

BTW...its pronounced "CO-BURN" for the district we reside in.

Hey squizzy, i really like the first one, just presents a well established and experienced business, the others give me the impression of a new company.

And its prononced Co-burn? You guys sure read and talk funny over there!!!

i voted #2 since it seems simple for the design and i think it looks nice.

Squizzy, I like the look of #1 the best.
However, #4 really gets the focus on stone wall building across much better with the graphic.
Depending on how much focus you want on the "who" vs. the "what" you might want to play with the font sizes of Cockburn and Stoneworks. Right now the Stoneworks seems to be getting top billing because it's a longer word and gets more space. Maybe some drop shadows on #4 would make it pop a little more.
Not trying to pick on any of them, just things to play with. Either one would make a good logo. :thumbsup

Orchard, thanks, I think you are right. Logo 4 is more relavent but its really old hat. A lot of wall builders seem to have cross bond as a background on their cards and stuff so I was looking for something more original but still relavent. No 1 seems good but it could be for any company. I'll have to go read the Da Vinci code again and try and incorporate some old pagan and masonic symbols:rolleyes:  :bouncegri

i like symmetrical:thumbsup

I went with #1 .

3, I don't like at all.

2 and 4 are about equal with each other, but #1 just seems to have a little more eye catching quality to it.

They look good Mr. Squizzy.:thumbsup

I like #1 the most.

I'm with Orchard on the addition of some "drop shadow".

I like some depth in a design, but just my personal taste.

I like number 1 aswell the only change I would make would be put Stone works on the \ . So you see Cockburn /\ Stoneworks then on the bottom of the diamond shape Phone number V Year estabilished.

We call Cockburn as Co-burn on the West Coast of Canada not the way it is printed on paper it sounds like its somebody that has used Mrs Palmer too hard :naughty

i think the diamond design stands out much better and seperates your logo from the everyday type of thang.

Gotta look at the bright side, Jeff. It's the beginning of the month, and you've gotten it out of the way. Now the pressure's off you, and the rest of us know what to expect. Win/win situation... :thumbsup

I don't know how I'm going to survive 10 days in the bush without HEF:spaz

OK..Ok..based on the esteemed opinions of the HEF members I have gone for round one of my included changes in the package thingy.

Hows this look?. I got the Stonemasons plumbline in the middle to give it some relevance whilst still keeping the standout shape of the logo. The logo will have phone numbers etc added depending on where they are being used. It looks great as a truck sign and on the business card.

I'm not going to post the business card as its a PDF and I can't edit out all the contact numbers and I'll end up with Jeff's ex-girlfriend (better known as the Stalker) ringing me up to tell me her life story and all that:rolleyes: :D :D :o

That looks great:thumbsup

If you'd really like to show the business card, you can open the pdf and hit the "Prt Sc" key on the keyboard to take a screenshot. Then paste it in paint and cut it out and paint over the details. Then just save as a jpeg.

But, since you did ask...............I personally like the original one (without the plumbline) better. I'm not sure why, but I do. Not that this one isn't good too!!:thumbsup

Also, I bet it would look good on a business card(white background) but what will it look like on your truck? Is that white also (I can't remember)?

If it's a darker color, will it stand out enough?

I'm not going to post the business card as its a PDF and I can't edit out all the contact numbers and I'll end up with Jeff's ex-girlfriend (better known as the Stalker) ringing me up to tell me her life story and all that:rolleyes: :D :D :oWise choice.:yup

Plus, with all the spammers that have been around here lately, you never know what those parasite cockroaches might use that info for too. They've somehow found their way too my cell phone now, text messaging me their crap.:Banghead

Jeff, the new truck (if it ever Flamin get here) is white. The new tool boxes on the tools trailer will be white. That leaves the skid which is Cat's Baby poo yellow and the excavator which is Yanmar's Monkey Vomit yellow....(I'm big into colours:rolleyes: )

I personally like the original one (without the plumbline) better. I'm not sure why, but I do. Not that this one isn't good too
And given your high standing here on HEF I had to give the above comments due regard.... ......and I got it changed a little to run some keystones around the plumbline.

I will try and post it oneday??...Thats it, I'm off on holidays..Thanks to all

See ya in a week or two:thumbsup

I like number one the best of the four. However, I see an interesting line in your initial post:
"I have had a design firm knock up a few logo's for my new LLC."
I'm assuming your design firm is an on line one from the nature of the samples. These companies are economical and convenient, but the trouble with them is that they do "knock out" these things, there's very little personalization to them. I've seen similar polls such as yours on other Boards and really haven't been that impressed with the offerings. Before you make a commitment, look in to how much a design would cost by a local company, or even find a freelance graphic artist to work on it. I think you'll find your results will be more unique which will be better remembered by potential customers.

Steve,....ummm....they are 600 yards down the road...and I don't think they are online. The business has done my cards and stuff for about 5 years. I gave them a very broad brief to see what they could come up with in a logo that was universal for all my stuff. The letter head and other stationary is very impressive. I've only been posting the actual logo bit here....but I like the way you are thinking. At least with a local person I can go in and sort stuff out...or call them when I have a break and get them out to write the skid or something. They also make siteworks signs for me on corflute.

That looks more refined and much better. I'll suggest a unique paint scheme for your truck(s) to go along with the graphics. Keep it simple but eye catching, something that will stick in the publics mind.

I've got 2 trucks that are identically lettered and painted, and I always get comments that I'm seen all over the place. Many of the people figured I'm a much larger company than I actually am for this reason. The key to truck art is to get your message out clearly, and have it in a format the public will remember. Keep it short, there is generally only a few second glimpse that the average person will get and you want to make an impression during this short time.

Thanks for the comments and feedback.

Tyler, Its going real well. We just finished a hell job done a big sandhill. It skull dragged the 248B up the hill about 8 times and did the bulk of the work. No frills machine that just does what is asked. Block laying it costs me about a $1 an hour in fuel. One of the bottom pins on the stick seems to groan a bit like its dry but we grease the hell out of it. Yanmar has been out to look at it and I think want to pull the pin for a check.

Its "The Numbat" thats what the kids call it...Numbats ferret around in the bush and dig out termites and insects???. The skid is "Flat Cat" on account of...no wait..thats another story. The new truck (whenever the hell we get it:mad: ) has been named "The Shingleback"..for whatever reason that escapes me:confused: . My brother has a boat called "The Wombat"...but wombats have a sort of different definition Down Under...on account that wombat's eat roots shoots and leaves...and the word "root" has a different meaning down here:rolleyes:

Bob the Builder is flat out drinking like a lizard...he has to finish my 3ft trash rake, my 2ft gummy bucket and my 18" gummy. Then he has to finish the body work on my tools trailer as well as build me a hydraulic thumb and some new block lifting clamps. By christmas time he should be rich just before he gets divorced and I should be poor but have a lot of new toys:cool:
