Yep, sniff, I braced myself and signed that cheque for the insurance company and sent it off....I guess I should feel better now???
I mean, your a cowboy if you don't have it right...but.....:crying
I'm going to have to look at those premium funding options. My public liability and accident and disability premiums like knock the socks off your bank account. Just when you think your getting ahead.

I'm starting to know how you feel Squizzy.I decided to get my own operating authority for trucking, instead of operating under another companies authority.I now am responsible for ALL the liabilty and cargo insurance.
My trucking insurance almost doubled last week.(for the year):crying
And I'm still not comfortable with my insurance for site prep, and excavating either.I think I've got to sit down with a different agent and have them explain what I'm really insured for.I'm worried I'm underinsured, but know that it's only going to go up,once I start checking into it.:Banghead
Do you have some type of "Workers Comp" insurance down there too?
That sure isn't cheap either!!I've been able to pass on having to pay it,since it's just me,and have a disability policy instead.
I think I mentioned this too Steve before, but I think it would be great to have an agent,or insurance co.,that specializes in the insurance that we all need,as an advertiser on the forum. One that could give us quotes, and would actually understand what we need for insurance.
Maybe an "Insurance" section, like there is for lubrication, and fianancing.

Workers Compensation policy is mandatory for anybody who earns more than $400/month working for you. And the policy of course excludes the owner. Its about $1,100.00 AUD a year for one labourer in earthmoving.
I have my own injury or accidental death policy but it is limited to getting hurt directly related to operating the machine so we have to broaden that a bit. We are going to a LLC on 1 July so we have to go through the whole insurance thing...having teeth pulled is looking more appealing.
Yup, I did the LLC thing last year. Cost about $600 for the filing. I was told this is the best way to go to protect your personal stuff.

The thing here, and I don't know how this applies in your part of the world, but a LLC does not protect the director if he/she makes a personal guarantee...such as signing "I will repay this loan" or "I will bring back your compactor in one piece". We want the LLC to put some barrier between those idiots out there and my house.
