They may very well have been driving the equipment to high ground. The water in the swale looks pretty brown and may be receding flood waters.

I would think they where hauling a$$. We were racing LinkBelt D30's IIRC at work when the other guy turned he flippd the bed over and I was up on two wheels, I thinks we had 4 or 5 rollover on that job.
