Operators,

I am currently a student finishing college this spring and looking for a project engineer/mngt/estimating position.

My Background:
I was an operator/grade setter for 2yrs w/ Ghilotti Bros, and did the same at Bay Cities for a yr
I did a project mngt internship w/ OC Jones this past summer

I have been applying to pretty much all of the big bay area players and was wondering if anyone could help me out. I figure you guys know your company's needs and could give me a push in the right direction.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks, Nick Smith

Nick dont forget to hit up all of the bridge outfitts as well, MCM, CCMEYERS, they are always looking for young talent. Also dont overlook cal trans. I met kelly Kollander when he was in just the position you are looking for, and look where he is now.

As a recent college graduate, my only advise is to get as many resumes out as possible with unique cover letters. Don't make them sound like you jsut changed the name of the company.

Make sure you research the company when you interview with them and no a little bit about them. Emphasizing real world experience also helped me I think.

Also what type of work are you looking for? Dirt Contractor? Bridge? Commercial?
Are you willing to relocate? And for that matter, are you willing to relocate for new projects?

Yeah, I thought doing a cover letter, but I just haven't sent any, I'll get working on that.
I know more about dirt/hwy construction, but I'm willing to learn something new and start wherever, and as far as relocation, I'd be willing to if it was a good opportunity.
