If a scale model is 1/32, you would divide the dimensions of the real thing by 32 to get the dimensions for the model, right?
If that is correct, wouldn't you do the same thing to figure the weight?
Does that mean the weight of my 1/32 Cat 365 should be around 4,500 lbs?
That doesn't seem right to me.:beatsme

Hi Copenhagen,
Actually it's not that simple. The scale of the model is exact in linear dimensions only. The weight will always differ since not all components and their proper densities are represented. Furthermore, you have to take into account the Square-cube law which deals with scaling up of the mass.

Linear distance is one dimension, add the width, and now you have two dimensions, add the height, and now you are at three dimensions, so I would estimate weight would be the cube root of the original, then start adjusting further for different material types and densities, and the fact the models have no "guts" in them, and it will be maybe half of the cube root of the original item.
When I have some time, I will try that out

Well, I used a cube root calculator online and figured the weight of my CAT 365 should be about 52 pounds.
