That is a very unique machine. I saw on Iron Planet a BE 2570 dragline with a 380' boom. The buy it now price is $6,000,000. They listed a couple companies that were approved for dismantling it. It had 56,666 hours. I'd guess that's not considered a whole lot for a dragline. Looking at all the pics. gives a better idea how complex of a machine it is. It was a little comical that the lunch room was a bit of a mess.

A wagon mount. There was a couple of big Manitowocs out here mounted on wagons. They ended up as barge cranes.I remember watching one of them sell cheap at Ritchie Bros in the old Surrey sales yard.Handy rigs until you need to move few feet and the tractor is off on another job.

Put the Lima on a little job this week removing some dump skids for the loggers. The skids weighed around 113000 Lbs. Teamed up with a nice old 4100 on a barge to get this thing on the beach. Then used my Kenworth and lowbed on one end and the Lima carrying the other end to move it across the sort to a laydown area.image0.jpegimage2 (1).jpegimage2 (2).jpegimage1 (2).jpeg

We had to go a little less than 500'. I carried it over the side to keep all lower rollers bearing the load. There was a bit of stop and go as the KW has longer legs than the Lima. The site is sloped for central drainage ,so that added to the fun. The lima has a very heavy duty angle chord boom so it can stand a bit of out of plumb lifting, something i wouldnt consider with a light tubular boom. All said n done it was an interested little project .

Yes that barge is a bit narrow. It lists a bit when they are boomed up high and swinging. They have good deck winches on all corners .We had winch wires running up to my lowbed on one side and running to the log loader on the other side to pull against. They kept the dozer boat pulling hard against the winches which gave a good controlled movement into shore ,keeping the load lined up under the boom tip on both cranes.

Great thread,@Tugger2 ! Who doesnt like old conventionals? Here's one of the few pics I took of a rig move in 1980, Central California. A Peter Bawden Drilling triple. Using the new 100 ton Link Belt and the older 60 ton, not sure of the make, it did have air controls and and I think it had a Pierce carrier.

I remember Peter Bawden Drilling in Nisku back in the 80's. Not sure what happened to them. Several other drilling companies had their locations at the old Peter Bawden site.
